Gucci Watches Give Back to the Children of the World

Gucci Watches come from a company that is not only into high fashion but participates in philanthropic causes. One such event commemorating Mother's Day is the Gucci Limited Edition bag to benefit UNICEF. Gucci, in partnership with UNICEF, introduced the limited edition tote created by Creative Director Frida Giannini especially for Mother's Day. It can be found for sale at the Digital Flagship online and 25 percent of each sale is donated to UNICEF HIV/AIDS programs. Gucci guaranteed a minimum donation of $70,000 USD for HIV test kits for pregnant mothers. A part of UNICEF's programs are to eliminate new HIV infection in newborn babies.

Frida Giannini was inspired to create the special edition bag after a trip to Malawi with UNICEF where she witnessed first-hand the AIDS epidemic that effects generations of families in the country. To help improve these circumstances, the bag allows people who would like to make a difference in the lives of people affected by AIDS and HIV to contribute with a gift that has double meaning on Mother's Day. Frida is also on the Board of Directors for PPR's Foundations for Women's Dignity and Rights.

The bag is designed to be fashionable and functional for mothers of all ages, it is done in an off-white fabric and features leather trim with the Gucci signature in green-red-green web. The exterior features a front-zippered pocket and open side pockets for mothers who are on the go. The interior has a zip compartment for security and a flat open pocket with three sections.

More than 1,000 infants every day around the world are infected with HIV transmitted through the mother during pregnancy, labor, and delivery or through breastfeeding. One in four women in poor countries has access to HIV testing. Each Mother's Day bag sold ensures a contribution from Gucci for more than 200 expectant mothers to get tested to determine their HIV status. Testing is vital to ensure every mother takes appropriate measures to treat and protect their children. This gift is one that everyone has the opportunity to participate in to help save lives of mothers and children around the world on this special day.

The limited edition bag will only be sold through the first half of 2011. The partnership with UNICEF began in 2005 helping orphaned children and children affected by HIV/AIDS in the Sub-Saharan African region. Every year Gucci makes a commitment to save children's lives. Since 2005, Gucci has raised over $9 million for UNICEF. This is proof to the dedication of the brand and has resulted in the status of Gucci being one of the largest corporate supporters for UNICEF's "Schools for Africa". Gucci Watches are made by a conscientious company that gives back to humanity.
